Since 2022, among US postings that state a work arrangement, the monthly share stating fully remote has moved between 3.02% and 6.6%, and stood at 5% in July 2026. The series counts only postings that explicitly list remote as the work arrangement, so hybrid roles offering partial remote flexibility are not included, and month-to-month moves partly reflect which employers were advertising heavily that month.
Which industries offer the most remote jobs?
Among the 10 highest-volume US industries, Software Development, IT Services and IT Consulting, Financial Services advertise the largest share of remote roles, and Retail and Restaurants the smallest. Each share is measured against every posting in the industry, not only those that state an arrangement: 99% to 100% of postings in these industries state one. The split follows the work itself rather than employer preference: roles that can be done from a laptop cluster at the top, while patient care, store operations, and food service stay overwhelmingly on site.
How is Canaria's remote work data collected?
These figures are derived from Canaria's production pipeline, which ingests postings daily from Indeed, LinkedIn Jobs, and 200,000+ employer ATS career portals. Each posting is deduplicated using semantic vector similarity and enriched with NLP-extracted fields including work mode, salary, skills, and SOC classification.
